Steeped in strong academic tradition, particularly in maths, sciences, music and Art, it’s no surprise that St Peter’s has considerably more applicants than places annually. Boarding, though comparatively small in numbers relative to the day community, has a cosy, family feel. Pupils used to city dwellings love the central York location with easy access to amenities. Children of doctors, lawyers, management consultants and accountants find that the walking distance to York train station makes it an easy day commute for children of working professional families across Yorkshire.
The welcome is always warm at this busy school. Its feeder – St Olave’s prep school’s ‘growth mindset’ model for learning and its associated curriculum focussed on the development of life skills, encourages children to be goal driven, ambitious but realistic. Sport is a particular strength.
