We would like to introduce to you, Uni-Assist Hub! The hub with all the important information you need about University and all the wonderful things applying and attending university entails.
Let’s face it, being a parent isn’t always a bowl of cherries but equally neither is being a teenager, especially with the dramatic impact that the last two years has had on their education and social lives. Whatever your Sixth Former is seeking to study, there are some basics that apply to every University applicant and knowledge is always power, forewarned is always forearmed. Going to university is an expensive investment and as a parent the best thing you can do is support your sons and daughters with well-informed decision-making.
We will give you the tools and information that you need to ensure the next couple of years run smoothly, without fuss or nasty surprises and, we hope, making the process as harmonious as possible through being thoroughly prepared for what lies ahead. Applicants seeking to apply to Oxbridge or to study Medicine will need additional information and we will give you helpful advice and tools to help maximise their chances of success.
What’s a degree apprenticeship? What’s the deadline to apply for Oxbridge? Which is the best university for Law/Classics/Business? Which Engineering discipline to choose? How important are rankings? Who should I ask to provide a reference? How high should they aim? Is the Personal Statement really that critical? What on earth is clearing? How about the cost of living? What about students with additional learning needs? What questions should be asked at a University visit and how can it be judged if visits are not possible? What about a placement year abroad? How can I best help them prepare for living away from home? What’s the best recipe for bolognaise sauce to help them make friends with their new housemates? (OK maybe not that last one, we assume they will find their own way to the best campus eateries!) All these questions, and many more, will be answered along the way!
Over time, we will continue to add more information and reading materials to the Uni-Assist Hub platform and offer ways of connecting with other parents as well as extending our series of valuable webinars. Let us know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see included – we would love to hear from you so don’t be shy! You can register for the first webinar in the series here.
