Claire is an expert in the field of career planning, coaching and development. She has worked as a professional Career Coach since 2000, following over twelve years’ HR experience in blue-chip retail and distribution companies, which included responsibility for graduate recruitment and development.
With a prior career in retail management, Claire retains a pragmatic approach, enabling her to balance commercial pressures with individual need, and she is known for her flexible, positive and client-focused style.
Claire’s work encompasses:
- career coaching and development coaching, including personality profiling, for senior managers in a wide range of commercial and not-for-profit sectors;
- development centres, workshops and one-to-one coaching for young people and recent graduates in order to clarify career direction;
- design and delivery of workshops for self-development and career management initiatives for team development across a range of sectors;
- recruitment, assessment, outplacement and job search support within a wide variety of sectors including manufacturing, retail, wholesale, local government and the media.
Having graduated from the University of Wales with a psychology degree, and qualified in Human Resources via the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development professional study scheme, Claire has continued to develop her interest in personality and motivation in the workplace. She has gained extensive experience in providing career coaching, outplacement and assessment at all levels and for all ages and she uses a wide range of psychometric tools in support of these programmes.

As well as having published numerous articles on career issues, including a career ‘agony aunt’ column, Claire has published a book on career management – ‘Take Charge!’.
